Tile Treat is a mahjong solitaire game: the board is a stack of tiles, and you clear it by matching identical pairs. You can pick only a free tile, one with nothing on top of it and an open left or right side. Remove every tile to win the level.
The rules
- Find a free pair. Look for two identical tiles that are both free.
- Match them. Click or tap the first tile, then its twin. The pair leaves the board.
- Clear the board. Keep matching until no tiles are left. That wins the level.
What is a free tile?
A tile is free when no tile sits on top of it and its left or right side is open. A tile squeezed between neighbours on both sides, or covered by another tile, has to wait until you clear what blocks it. Free tiles glow (you can turn this off in Settings), so you can see your options at a glance.
Hint, Undo and Shuffle
| Helper | What it does | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Hint | Shows a pair you can match right now. | The first hint on each board is free. After that, a short ad gives you another. |
| Undo | Takes back your last match. | Always free. |
| Shuffle | Re-deals the remaining tiles. The new board is always solvable. | The first shuffle on each board is free, then a short ad gives you another. When you have no moves left, the board shuffles by itself for free. |
Lives
From level 11, and in the Daily and Weekly Challenges, matching two tiles that aren't a pair costs a life. Lose every life and the game is over. Tapping a blocked tile never costs a life, so you can explore the board safely.
Stars, combos and coins
- Stars: finish a level under its par time for 3 stars, or within 1.5 times par for 2. You can hide the timer for a relaxed game; stars still count the time.
- Combos: make another match within 3 seconds to score ×2, then ×3 points.
- Coins: clearing a board pays coins, with extra for the Daily and Weekly Challenges. Replaying a board pays only for new stars. Spend coins on new tile sets and backgrounds.
Game modes
Levels
100 levels in five chapters, from easy to master, built on 34 different board layouts such as a heart, a castle, a butterfly and a lotus.
Daily and Weekly Challenges
A new board arrives every day and a big one every week, the same for every player. Clear the Daily Challenge on days in a row to build a streak and open a chest.
Quick Play
Pick a difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard or Master), then any board from the Quick Snack, Lunch Break or Big Feast shelves, or let Surprise Me choose one. Two boosts make a board harder and pay 50% more coins each: Time Attack (clear the board before the clock runs out) and Hidden Tiles (blocked tiles stay face down until they're free).
Keyboard shortcuts
On a computer, the game board answers these keys:
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Esc or P | Pause, or resume a paused game |
| U, Ctrl + Z or ⌘ + Z | Undo the last match |
| H | Hint |
| S | Shuffle |
Tips for clearing the board
- Uncover stacks early. A tile on top of a stack hides at least one more; removing it opens new matches.
- Open long rows from the ends. Each tile you take off the end of a long row frees the next one.
- Choose the pair that frees the most. When more than two matching tiles are free, match the ones that unblock other tiles.
- Undo is free. If a match leaves you stuck, take it back and try another order.
